LIFE SKILLS:  THE 7 M’S OF BUSINESS (@Life PROGRAMME)

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

 

This life skills programme is designed to familiarise employees with the basic business aspects of their organisation, as well as their own functions and interactions within the organisation. The aspects discussed fall under the broad headings of Materials, Manpower, Machinery, Management, Money and Markets, but also focus on ME. Where do I fit into all of this.  Understanding these issues and knowing how their well-being is influenced by the well-being of the organisation (and visa-versa) equips and motivates the employee to make a positive contribution towards better performance at work and in their daily lives.

Programme consist of 2 sessions (1 day each):

Business Principles

The 7 Ms of business:

Manpower

·         understanding your role in the business and also how the various levels of operation functions

·         Understanding management structures (Top-, Middle-, Low-)

·         Relationships at work

·         The mission, goals and Objectives of the company and how “people” are involved in attaining goals

·         Safety

Material

·         Understanding the relevant Product and Services the business renders

·         Wastage (Time and Material)

Machines

·         Role of Machinery and tools

·         Maintenance and replacement

Money

·         Understanding basic income and expenses

·         Personal budgeting

·         The “finance” of the business

·         “Time is money”

Management Systems and Mechanisms

·         Understanding the processes that keeps the organisation running smoothly

·         Understanding how management  behaviour influences this process

Market

·         Who is our client basis?

·         What should we know about our client and why are they so important?

 

Me : Where is the ship heading and am I on board?

·         How do I fit into this process and function within the other 6 Ms?

·         Why am I important to the business and myself?

·         The “ripple effect” of what I do
